Desert Dreams

Nary a word spoken. Only title words written, "Desert Dreams: Celebrating Five Seasons in the Sonoran Desert " (dry summer, wet summer, autumn, winter, and spring). Bird and other sounds of nature balance with recorder music and a mix of other modest instrumentations.  Reverently sequenced photography showcases so many kinds of birds and other animals, so many kinds of cactus, so many kinds of flowers.

Reading the following parade of summary sentences, think “a picture is worth a thousand words.” The images of nature in “Desert Dreams” beautifully compile millions of words.

Night shines. Sun glares. Dust blows. Rabbit bypasses a rattler. Flowers trumpet open. Bat flight freezes in a frame. Morning enlightens. Lizard swallows quail eggs whole. Bird brings its kids a lizard. Bob whites convene.  Wild cat yawns. Dust devil spins. Clouds evanesce. Clouds build. Wind whooshes. Sand takes air. Lightening rips. Rain pelts. Browned water gushes. Thunder rolls. Aftermath quiets. Rainbow paints in neon. Storm follows storm. Flowers bloom. Critters use the night. Storm follows storm. Frogs emerge and bellow and do it. Wild cat and javelinas drink. Cacti proliferate. Turtle eats messily. Snake curls and rattles. Caterpillar strips leaves. Rabbit preens. Bees and moths and grasshoppers and other insects work the flowers. Chipmunk and lizard work the flowers. Lizard does pushups. Vultures flaunt their wingspans. Water ripples and reflects.  Colors change. Deer forage. Cougar stalks and eats. Hawk picks off a bob white. Clouds permeate. Rain piddles. Wet fox poises. Clouds layer. Snow blankets. Birds and rabbits and deer ice skate. Mountain goat family explores. Fox trots. Flowers flower everywhere -- so many kinds of flowers. Film credits roll with a subtle commentary snuck in at the very end.
